Privacy Policy

The short version

Bharometer is built privacy-first. Your fuel log, vehicles and costs live on your own device (and, on iPhone, in your private iCloud if you enable it). There is no Bharometer account, no Bharometer server, we don't run ads, and we never sell your data. We don't know who you are — we don't have your name, email, phone number or IP address.

1. Who we are

Bharometer ("the app", "we", "us") is developed and published by DigiTally / Positiva Films, based in Mumbai, India. You can reach us at tally@positivafilms.com.

2. Data you enter

Bharometer stores the information you choose to add — such as your vehicles, fuel fill-ups, odometer readings, costs, reminders and settings. This data is stored locally on your device (using Apple's Core Data framework on iPhone, and a local database on Android).

Everything the app shows you — your mileage, averages, costs and trends — is calculated on your device from this information alone. The figures are only as accurate as the data you enter; please see our Terms of Use for how the app's results and accuracy are handled.

On iPhone, if you enable iCloud sync, this same data is stored in your personal iCloud account so it can sync across your Apple devices and be backed up. It is handled by Apple under Apple's privacy policy and is not accessible to us. On Android, your data stays on the device; you can export a CSV backup yourself at any time.

We can't see your data — and we can't restore it either. Bharometer has no backend server. We don't save your fill-ups, costs or anything about you anywhere. Even when you buy Bharometer Pro, we don't get your details; that is managed entirely by the app store you purchased through (Apple's App Store or Google Play). The flip side: if you delete the app without a backup (iCloud or CSV), we have no way to recover your data, because we never had a copy.

3. Location

If you use the Pumps or Find pumps on route features, the app asks for permission to use your location. Your location is used only on your device to show nearby fuel stations and directions (Apple Maps on iPhone, Google Maps on Android). We do not collect, store or transmit your location to our servers.

4. Camera

The optional Scan the receipt feature uses your camera to read the litres, amount and rate from a printed fuel receipt. You can also attach photos (receipts or bills) to your records. Images are processed and stored on-device and are not uploaded to us.

5. Fuel prices

Bharometer does not fetch live or city fuel prices. The prices shown in the app are the ones you enter when logging a fill-up, stored on your device and used to calculate your own last-paid price and average.

6. Weather

If the optional weather snapshot setting is on (it is by default), the app records the temperature at the time of a fill-up using a weather service: Apple's WeatherKit on iPhone, and Open-Meteo on Android. The approximate location of the fill-up is sent to that weather provider solely to fetch the temperature; we never receive it. You can turn this off any time in Settings.

7. Analytics & crash reports

Bharometer uses PostHog, a privacy-first product-analytics service, to understand how the app is used — for example which screens and features are opened, and whether people return over time. This is collected anonymously: no name, email, phone number or advertising identifier is collected, and the data is never linked to your identity or used to track you across other apps or websites. It is processed on PostHog's EU infrastructure and used only to improve the app.

This website uses the same anonymous analytics to count page visits and see which pages are useful. It is cookie-free — nothing is stored on your device, no personal information is collected, and visits are not linked to any identity.

If the app crashes or hits an internal error, an anonymous crash report is sent to Sentry, an error-monitoring service, so we can find and fix the problem. A report contains technical context only — the crash location in the code, device model, OS version and app version. It never includes your fill-ups, vehicles, location, or anything you have entered in the app, and it is not linked to your identity. Crash data is processed on Sentry's EU infrastructure. We do not use advertising or cross-app tracking, and the app shows no ads.

8. In-app purchases (Bharometer Pro)

Bharometer offers optional paid upgrades (Bharometer Pro — monthly, yearly or lifetime). Purchases are processed entirely by the app store you downloaded from: Apple through the App Store on iPhone (using StoreKit), or Google through Google Play on Android (using Google Play Billing). We never see or store your name, payment card, billing address or store account ID. The app only checks, on your device, whether a Pro purchase is active so it can unlock Pro features. Their handling of your payment is covered by Apple's privacy policy and Google's privacy policy. You can manage or cancel subscriptions any time in your Apple ID or Google Play account settings.

No other service receives any data from the app. This website (bharometer.com) is hosted on Vercel, which may keep standard, short-lived server logs for the site itself — the app does not send your data here.

11. Data retention & deletion

Because your data lives on your device and in your iCloud, you are in control. You can delete individual entries, or remove all data by deleting the app and turning off iCloud sync. Deleting the app removes its on-device data.

12. Children

Bharometer is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected on this page with a new "last updated" date. If a future version of the app ever introduces a feature that collects new kinds of data, it will be opt-in and explained before you enable it.
